Have you looked at other collaborative science fiction projects? Orion's Arm comes to mind.

I've not! At least not really. I'm also aware of Shadow Unit which does a similar sort of thing.

I was poking around Orion's Arm, and I found the site difficult to use, and was looking desperately for some sort of downloadble ePub (or somesuch) and was disappointed that I couldn't find one. I suppose I'm a minority here, but I guess that goes on the list of things to think about.

We should probably use this--or another--wiki page to collect examples of and links to similar projects. Adding this to my todo list, but feel free to preempt me!
